With Open Eyes – Anniversary exhibition – In honour of the silent presence of animals
On the 14th of October 2018 it is time for celebration! Loes Botman has been active as an artist for 25 years and celebrates her 50th birthday. On top of that she opens her 200th exhibition whereby she presents two new books. With a great exhibition “With Open Eyes” in Gallery Rijlaarsdam in Nieuwkoop (the Netherlands) she celebrates these jubilees.
At the exhibition Loes’ newest pastels will be shown – among of them 50 new drawings of horses in honour of these majestic animals. Loes is a true ‘pastelfreak’: “Pastells are magical.” This magic you’ll soon discover in her works. Let yourself be drawn into the world of pastels and animals!
In celebration of the jubilees a new colourful, art-reflectional book titled Still elevens/Still lives will be presented. A great artbook full of texts about animals combined with drawings from the artist – a book full of inspiration. This book follows on Loes’ first overview book called Pastels from 10 years ago. Time for a new overview! Recent drawings are alternated with early works, articles, inspiring quotes and poems. The bound book (25×25 cm) is a limited edition in both Dutch and English. 176 colourfull pages take you into the world of the animals. To be sure to have a copy you can order a book in advance. Next to the presentation of Stille levens/Still lives I’ll present a new children’s book for the youngest children titled Klein Slaapdierenboek. How lovely it is to sleep, not only for people but also for animals! This colourful board book is filled with sleeping animals.
The 14th of October 2018 is going to be a festive day: in honour of pastel art and in love with animals. Loes: “I am deeply silenced by the idea that millions of hearts beat around me. This thought fills me with so much awe, and so much love, that it almost takes my breath away.”
Loes takes you personally into the world of drawn animals on Sunday the 28th of October from 14.00-16.00 o’clock with a tour through the exhibition “With Open Eyes”.
